It was announced today that CSBP will receive a grant of $7.5 million from the Federal Government to help accelerate our transition to Net Zero.
The grant, awarded through the Powering the Regions Fund, will be used to install a low emission waste gas incinerator at AGR’s (CSBP’s (75%) JV with Coogee (25%)) sodium cyanide plant.
Climate Opportunities Manager Anna Hearne said that the installation of this new incinerator would significantly cut nitrous oxide emissions in AGR’s sodium cyanide production.
“The new incinerator is expected to be installed by 2027 and is an important part of our Net Zero Roadmap, helping to deliver our 2030 target of a 30% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by reducing nitrous oxide emissions from the sodium cyanide plant by 86%,” Anna said.
This latest funding follows the $32.9 million grant CSBP was awarded from the Powering the Regions Fund early this year for the installation of tertiary abatement catalysts in two of our older Nitric Acid Ammonium Nitrate (NAAN) Plants at CSBP Kwinana.
