Building WesCEF’s IT capabilities and strong relationships across the business have been the most rewarding parts of ERP Applications Architect, Rodney Hee’s 30 years with the business.
Starting out as a Network/Systems Administrator at CSBP in 1996, Rodney has had a number of roles over the years and has been involved with numerous IT projects and upgrades.
Some of his most memorable projects include implementing freight management business requirements for Australian Vinyls, introducing robust data recording and reporting capabilities for the AVEVA PI OT Historian Project, implementing a mobile plant inspection solution integrated with the JDE system, and modernising CSBP Stores operations through the introduction of mobile Zebra handheld devices and site-wide Wi-Fi.
Rodney recalls one of the most challenging and memorable milestones was the implementation of the first Windows-based version of the JDE system.
“It was a project that required significant effort, resilience, and commitment and one that included many long nights to ensure a successful outcome,” Rodney said.
“Another rewarding challenge was the opportunity to build a new IT infrastructure team in 2006, after having previously outsourced most of our IT department for several years.
“We were able to establish a great team of dedicated individuals and complete numerous capital projects, including implementing the latest IT network, servers and storage technologies, as well as upgrading our data centre.”
Rodney appreciates being able to work on new and rewarding IT projects that add real value to the organisation.
“I really value WesCEF’s strong company culture and the diversity of the business, which creates many opportunities to identify and deliver meaningful system improvements,” he said.
“I particularly enjoy building strong working relationships with like-minded peers and collaborating effectively to achieve shared goals.”
When he’s not at work, Rodney enjoys tinkering in the garage and listening to music on vintage audio tube amplifiers. You’ll also often find him out and about on his motorbike, cycling indoors, or being the Uber driver for his kids!
Congratulations on your 30-year milestone, Rodney, and thanks for your contribution to our IT systems and the business over the years.
