We’re thrilled to share our WesCEF Community Grants recipients for 2026!
Through our FY26 WesCEF Community Grants, we are pleased to award across five local organisations. Congratulations to this year’s recipients: Gilmore College, Orelia Primary School, Naragebup Rockingham Regional Environment Centre, Native Plants WA and Ngalla Yorga Waangkan Aboriginal Corporation.
WesCEF has been part of the local Kwinana and Rockingham region for more than 80 years through our CSBP and Kleenheat businesses. Being a responsible industry member means more than operating safely and sustainably — it means investing in the organisations who help communities thrive now and into the future.
We are proud to support initiatives that align with our focus areas of STEM education, Aboriginal community engagement and environmental sustainability.
Several recipients have previously received WesCEF support, reflecting our commitment to building long‑term capability and investment in programs that continue to respond to local needs.
Inspiring future pathways through STEM
Two local schools, Gilmore College and Orelia Primary School, are delivering hands‑on STEM initiatives, designed to build curiosity and real‑world skills.
Gilmore College will introduce a biotechnology program, giving students experience with industry‑relevant laboratory equipment and techniques, and exposure to science‑based career pathways.
At Orelia Primary School, funding will expand access to STEM equipment, supporting inquiry‑based learning across the school.
“This funding from WesCEF will create meaningful opportunities for all of our students by ensuring equitable access to high‑quality STEM learning,” said Orelia Primary School Science Teacher Melanie Zaharopoulos.
“It allows every child, regardless of background, to engage with robotics, coding and future‑focused technologies.”
Rejuvenating the environment
Naragebup Rockingham Regional Environment Centre will strengthen its marine turtle rehabilitation program, one of only three in Western Australia, rescuing and rehabilitating injured turtles while educating the community about marine conservation.
Native Plants WA will establish a native seed saving and reseeding program, preserving locally grown plant species and supporting bush regeneration, urban greening and volunteer training.
“This grant allows us to preserve precious native seeds in a way that maximizes seedling production. Local seed collections [will] strengthen community ownership and protect these resources for future generations”, Native Plants WA Business Manager Emma Tayler said.
Strengthening Aboriginal-led connection
Ngalla Yorga Waankan Aboriginal Corporation will deliver an intergenerational initiative, working with the Moorditj Kulungar Playgroup. The activity will bring together children, parents, grandparents and extended kin for an immersive cultural weekend.

What’s next?
We are excited to see the positive impact these initiatives will have on our local community.
Whilst our grant round has now closed for 2026, stay tuned for more announcements as these projects get underway in the coming months.
