Congratulations to Julie Watson, WesCEF’s General Manager of Safety & Engineering Services, for being recently elected President of the Kwinana Industries Council (KIC).
The appointment further strengthens WesCEF’s commitment to, and connections within, the Kwinana community and the industrial operators working in the area.
The KIC is the peak industry association for the Kwinana Industrial Area, representing the diverse range of industries that contribute significantly to Western Australia’s economy.
Members of the Kwinana Industries Council, including WesCEF, are major drivers of the multi-billion-dollar economic activity generated for the state and Australian economies.
“WesCEF is one of the largest heavy industry players in the Kwinana Industrial Area,” Julie said.
“We are reliant on common infrastructure such as roads, rail, and berthing; and our KIC membership allows us to influence common interest issues with government and other stakeholders with a larger voice.
“The Westport and Henderson precinct developments means it is increasingly important for member companies to have a say in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Kwinana Industrial Area.
“I look forward to the collaboration with new CEO David Harrison and the KIC members to achieve good outcomes for the KIA,” she added.
David Harrison, Chief Executive Officer of KIC, said he looked forward to working with Julie, who originally joined the KIC Board in 2020 and was first elected to the Executive Committee in 2022.
“I congratulate Julie on her appointment (as President), and I look forward to working closely with her as we shape the future growth and direction of our organisation,” David said.
Julie succeeds Albert Romano (Covalent Lithium’s GM Operations) as President, after his six years of service to the KIC in the role. Albert will stay on the KIC Board, as Vice President.
